The queen is the undisputed powerhouse of the chessboard. She combines the straight-line movement of the rook with the diagonal movement of the bishop. This means a queen can move as many empty squares as she wants in any direction: forwards, backwards, left, right, or diagonally.
For experienced players
Because the queen is so valuable, bringing her out too early in the game can be dangerous. If the opponent attacks her with lesser pieces, she will be forced to retreat, costing you valuable time.
